Embrace Insanity
The Return of Catland
Almost ten years ago, Catland delighted players with off-kilter games and experiences that embraced insanity, dared you to step into wonder and made you think “what the hell are we playing right now.”
And when the world stopped turning and the insanity ramped up again, the cat sprung back to life – with eight lives to spare.
Please join us to celebrate the return of Catland with three special announcements.

Frequently Asked Questions
Catland Ltd used to be a VC-backed VR-focused game startup that lived from 2016-2019. The new Catland is the sole personal brand and label of indie developer Tomi Toikka, the original founder of Catland Ltd. It returns almost 10 years later to host both old and new games from the former team members and Tomi Toikka himself.
Catland is not a revival of the original company, but a creative label built on the same spirit, by the original founder.
Yes. There are no plans to remove the classic catalogue of Catland games that are on Steam.
No. Catland is not a company, publisher, or studio entity. It is a creative label used by Tomi Toikka to release indie projects with collaborators.
Catland does not hire, accept CVs, or take external investment. It exists purely as Tomi Toikka’s personal indie label for collaborative releases. Please do not send us CVs or solicitation.
Catland operates independently from Tomi Toikka’s other studios and projects. It exists purely as a personal indie label focused on smaller creative releases.
The original founder of Catland, award-winning game designer Tomi Toikka needed a way to bring their games to market under a label other than their own name, since there’s a lot of collaborators they frequently work with and want to make games with.
The idea of Catland also still resonates to this day – the idea to embrace insanity, step into wonder and make games that make you think “what the hell are we playing right now”. It’s a familiar, slightly snarky and off-kilter label that resonates to this day. After receiving permission from the original founders and investors, the decision was a no-brainer.
Catland is back and here to stay.
Catland is not a typical game studio or a publisher. We do not have open careers, accept game pitches or accept solitication.
If you send a job application, game pitch, or any kind of solicitation or sales offer despite reading this, you’ll be laughed at. Catland is not interested. Don’t be a weirdo.
